Dynamic Health

If you were laid-off, lost your Health Coverage and needed Welfare, WIC or Medicaid…?
If you lost your job, and thus subsequently lost your health insurance, and was unemployed long enough to deplete your savings, would you be too proud to accept Government assistance to feed your kids and provide them with State Health Insurance?
I’ve noticed that a lot of question on Y!A seem to be biased, against Welfare recipients and I just don’t think it’s fair to project those kinds of prejudices against fellow American’s just because their going through hard times? Plus, the dynamic of your average Welfare family is drastically changing to include families that previously made upwards of 60K-100K. Prejudiced persons seek to make these families feel embarrassed of their situations and it’s just not fair.
what do you think?
I don’t think this really answers your question, but I did want to comment on this. I have a good-paying position with the WIC program. Working with clients every day, I used to get annoyed at the mentality SOME of them have, and it annoyed me even more when I felt people were abusing the system and getting benefits when I felt they didn’t deserve it. I thought “GET A JOB” when talking to so many of my clients…Then one day it just hit me: If we have a drop in clients, WIC employees start getting laid off. This is the same for any grant-funded assisstance program. Think about how many hundreds of thousands of jobs are created because people are on assisstance. Medicaid, WIC, Food Stamps, Heating assisstance, Daycare assisstance, Welfare, etc. It takes many people in almost every city in the U.S. to run these programs. The more people on assisstance, the more jobs are available for others. So, if anyone out there qualifies, please don’t be proud – apply and get whatever help you can. Because of people who do that, I, along with so many others, have a job!
