How do you handle 10th grade homework and super competitive soccer ?
How do you keep organized for school? How do you handle stress
Last year, I was exactly like you. I was a sophomore in high school, was trying to balance my GPA, all while playing varsity soccer. Here’s what I think, having gone through an entire year of this hectic, crazy lifestyle:
Always put academics first. Your soccer career, unless you are an amazing mid-fielder or striker, will never be as important as making it into Columbia, or getting a 35 on the ACT.
Having said that, soccer is also very important, because colleges love seeing consistancy within anything you do in high school–whether it be volunteer work, varsity athletics, an instrument or choir, etc.
Here’s my suggestion:
Start off the year attempting to balance homework and your soccer. If things start to get out of control, quit soccer, or lower your standards by trying to go down a level, Junior Varsity, for example, still compedetive, but fewer games and less practice time.
